Finally Complete

The last week has been a bit hectic in our house, we have been redecorating the living room so everything has been completely upside down and generally looking like a bomb has hit it. First of all we had the old fire surround removed and replaced with one that is much more to our taste. As well as the new fire surround, we also had two new living room doors fitted, my parents very kindly paid for these as a sort of late birthday present. It took the workmen two days to complete the job and then it was up to us to decorate as the old wallpaper had chunks missing from it because the old fire took up much more space.
The rest of the week was spent decorating, this was mostly done in the evenings when Eliza had gone to bed because as I'm sure you can imagine, decorating isn't an easy task when there is a toddler trying to "help". My mum and I did the first half of the wallpapering and then Pete helped me to finish it off. By now we were starting to see what the room might look like when it was finished but it still seemed like there was lots to do. I needed to paint the walls white and also paint the skirting board as well as varnish the new doors. It took us almost a week to get everything finished but there was still one more thing that we needed and Pete's Parents very kindly helped us out by buying a new carpet. The old one was in the house when we moved in and looked a bit worse for wear, especially since having the old fire taken out.
So 10 days after we emptied the living room for the work to begin, it is finally complete and we are both really please with how it looks. It was definitely worth all of the mess but I don't think we will be doing any more decorating this year.
Anyway, here are a couple of photographs. The first shows the room just after we moved in and the second shows the newly decorated room.

  1. Gorgeous wallpaper! I'm hoping to make some sort of feature wall one day in this place, but it'll have to wait for a while!

    Lovely x

  2. Thanks Hannah, we really love it. I didn't enjoy having the mess at all though. We are planning to do the dining room next year. xxx
